okay, my husband told me that some of these tea party protesters were running the secessionist flag at the capitol while protesting the passage of health care reform and attacking obama this weekend.  i could not find an image that confirmed this, only one asshole with a skynard tee shirt.

this was enough for me though, 'cause i really use to like the "don't tred on me" flag from the revolutionary war.  now it has been co-opted by these unlikely corporate warriors.

which got me to remembering an interesting side note about the civil war and flags and states rights and stuff (see below).

the civil war in America was over a hundred and twenty five years ago.  i personally consider it stare decisis.
The Republic stands.

apparently tort reform will not extend to the superfluous challenge of some republicans who want to sue when they lose (see bush v. gore or coleman v. franken).  to those state attorneys general who are joining the suit against health care reform, couldn't your state's tax dollars be put to much better use?  how about health care?

but, i agree that this bill may need to be improved.  it think it may be unconstitutional for the government to force purchase of  for profit health insurance.  this is not the purpose of our government, even in the age of no-bid contracts and blackwater security. so, i propose that in the exchanges that the government will set up in 2014 for those who otherwise could not purchase health insurance, we limit companies who participate to the non-profit (or perhaps a public utility and regulated) insurance providers.  perhaps we could just make it a medicare buy-in to reduce costs for the consumer and put downward pressure on the overall profit taking on premiums.
